Description
Clinical scientists in work between hospitals, industry and research to introduce new technologies such as quantum-enhanced brain scanners and advanced imaging methods, or incorporate new medicines into treatment. They help design and run studies, ensure devices are safe, predict the effects of medicines on patients, and bring all this information together for doctors.
Routes
Undergraduate degree in biomedical science, physics, chemistry or a related subject, followed by accredited clinical scientist training (e.g. NHS Scientist Training Programme) or a PhD in medical physics, diagnostic sciences; registration with relevant professional bodies is typically required.
